A well balanced coffee with beautifully sweet notes of date, milk chocolate and roasted almond, the latter of which become more pronounced with the addition of milk.
Produced by Inacio Carlos Urban at his farm, Rio Brilhante, in the Cerrado region of Brazil, which is renowned for the quality of its coffee and has even received origin status – similar to that of Champagne in France; only coffee produced in Cerrado can use the word ‘Cerrado’ in its name.
This particular lot is 100% handpicked Catuai, although as part of their drive to innovate, new varieties such as Arara and Paraiso are being introduced at Rio Brilhante.
Rio Brilhante also takes part in a number of social projects; including ‘Seeds of Change’ which helps to improve education for its staff and their family members, including reading, writing and maths for everyday life.
Rio Brilhante also supports and funds a school for the disabled , ‘Escolinha Tia Edna’, along with ‘Ponto do Livro’, a project aimed at opening local open-air libraries.
Inacio is now looking to reinstate water springs in the area, to support the local community further.
